Watercolors & Monotypes
While my current painting and printmaking is focused on abstracted watery situations, it springs from my observations of coastline light and landscape, as my practice evolved from plein air painting.
These watercolors are a return to my love of outdoor painting, where the feel of the day- the sun, clouds, wind and showers- along with a love for the awesome beauty of the place, make their way into the work.
In all the images in this exhibit by the seven of us, it shows.
The west coast of Ireland pulls me back again and again, primarily because of my long association with the Ballinglen Arts Foundation and a love for the people and striking landscape there. I first traveled to Ballycastle with my two girls in 1998, for a month-long fellowship – and made many friends, as the girls attended the local school. I’ve returned 9 times, including the workshop I led in May/June 2025, which was a truly inspiring experience!
Maud Morgan Arts – now part of the Maria Baldwin Community – has been part of my life since 1996, when Terry DeLancey and I conceived of the idea for a Cambridge- wide arts center… which after many years was launched with the new building that opened in 2010, and the on-going community gallery. I am exceedingly proud of the Chandler Gallery and MMA, and what has been accomplished to mount outstanding exhibits and offer excellent visual arts classes for children & adults.
